Meet Our Team
Mark started in this industry 35 years ago. As a former co-owner of Sound Center stores in the Twin Cities, 1998 found him in search of a new adventure. That was the beginning of Halsten Entertainment. While he does not force his employees to sit by the campfire, holding hands and singing Kumbyah, he does focus on a team environment. The longevity of his employees speaks to the way he runs the company. He keeps a finger on the pulse of the Consumer Electronics industry and has close-knit and long-lasting relationships with our vendors and manufacturers. When not busy being our fearless leader, Mark enjoys traveling, boating, jogging, biking and golfing.
A cornerstone of Halsten Entertainment since its inception in 1998, Katie is the gravitational force that keeps the team from flying into chaos. Working her magic behind the scenes–like The Wizard of Oz–Katie keeps the books, manages shipments, organizes events and deftly juggles many other responsibilities. When she is away from her duties, Katie enjoys traveling, health & wellness, socializing with neighbors, hanging at the cabin, walking for Alzheimer’s, going to epic concerts, coffee, and smiles. Katie does not enjoy the following: Eating gluten, tripping over stuff, people who say “orientated” and being randomly startled by conniving co-workers.
Erik has been providing outstanding sales and design skills to our clients since 2006. His quiet demeanor and empathetic personality make him a pleasure to work with. He has loyal clients who appreciate his technical knowledge, willingness to troubleshoot, and overall top-notch customer service. His greatest asset to Halsten Entertainment is his continuing education of the ever-evolving Consumer Electronics industry. When he’s not busy designing systems he enjoys going to car shows, tinkering with his old truck, cooking extra spicy foods and walking his dog Senna.
We rescued Mike from the clutches of a “big box” store back in 2008. After the demons were exorcised, he quickly became one of our highest performing people. His knack for explaining technology in layman’s terms makes him a hit with our clients. Mike’s specialty is designing systems based on room size and budget. He is a joy to have around Halsten Entertainment with his jubilant personality, quick sense of humor, and lovely hair. In his down time you will find him on one of the local mountain bike courses or walking the dogs at the dog park. Originally from Wausau, Wisconsin, Mike regularly dons his Packer jersey during football season. He also enjoys cheese and beer.
Marilyn has been a warm presence here at Halsten Entertainment, helping us out for the last 11 years. She is a part-time employee with a full-time presence. She keeps the showroom looking good, and keeps the boys in line. She is the social coordinator and morale booster, always planning a party or bringing in treats. In her free time Marilyn enjoys going on walks, volunteering, cooking, baking and spending time with her children and grandchildren.
Russell has been with Halsten Entertainment since October of 2000. He is a true home theater enthusiast and movie buff– he absolutely loves this stuff. He is our lead technician, and clients regularly request him by name. Though a versatile installer, his expertise lies in larger, more complex systems, system design, and troubleshooting. Russell is a licensed Power Limited Technician and a CEDIA Certified Level II Installer. He enjoys watching movies in his home theater, riding his bike with a local club, camping with his wife and three children, and urban farming–raising chickens in his backyard.
Rick is back at Halsten after a brief stint in the sporting goods industry. He decided installing home theaters is more fun than assembling bikes, so he came back to join us! In his spare time Rick enjoys hunting, going to his cabin, meat raffles, potlucks and casual walks along the beach.
Trevor is the newest member of our team. He comes to us with a diverse background of A/V and building/construction. He has fast become a key component to our installation team. He lives on several acres in Princeton, MN and is a country boy at heart. His off time is spent four-wheeling, camping and searching for agates with his two young sons.
